Thanksgiving Party
THANKSGIVING PARTY PICTURE STORY
This shows just how big the dinner was. In total we had 50 kids attend the evening. It was a HUGE success.
Holy Hour + Dodgeball

We went to the seminary again in November for Eucharistic Adoration and dodgeball. Father Gerard and Father Frank joined us for the evening. It really is a special night, and I HIGHLY recommend attending the next one which is in January. The kids get to see first hand the many other youthful Catholics in our diocese that believe as they believe.
They get a chance to practice and live out their faith with these other youth groups, and then have fun playing dodgeball after the Holy Hour. It also exposes the kids to the calling of serving in the Priesthood/Clergy or other ministry of the church since the kids get to interact with the seminarians. It truly is a Holy Night, and they never cease to amaze me each time we go.
There are two quotes below, one showcasing how spiritual and how fun the evening was:
“The words Father Brian said made me reflect back on myself and feel like I can do more, become more spiritual and get closer to God.” - JrYG Kid
“Once the nuns start cheating, you know you lost” - Bobby F.

We Live Christ

I spent a long time thinking about what the mission statement for our Youth Group should be. There is a lot to say about why Holy Family has a Youth Group, but I settled on this:
WE LIVE CHRIST.
Three words. Whatever we do, whether going to church, planning a fund-raiser, praying, or having fun at Splish Splash….everything we do should be about living out the message of Christ.
I wanted something to the point and simple so that way the kids would remember it, and it would retain its meaning. When someone asks one of the kids "what is youth group about?" I want them to be able to say "We Live Christ" in response.
There is going to be a major focus on this message as we move forward this year and into the future. Some VERY AWESOME things are coming related to this mission statement, but I do not want to spoil anything just yet.
Stay tuned.
